If you’re thinking of starting a day spa business? I’m sure you have been trying to imagine how your salon will look like. Designing your new spa is going to be one of the most pleasurable parts of starting a day spa business. Why not take a break from planning the marketing, fixing documents and getting permits ready? Plan your day spa design and relax a bit.
Most customers go to a day spa business to relax. If you want your clients to come back, you have to give what they want and part of that is to have a procedure done in a relaxed manner. Maybe some clients go to a day spa to rest after a long hard day at the office. Sure, your staff can give a massage but it won’t be as effective if the atmosphere of your spa is not comfortable.
Remember these pointers when designing your day spa business. It’s important to provide that level of comfort for your customers by having comfortable seats and massage tables or facial lounge chairs. Have clean sheets for each customer, and provide a light down comforter or blankets too. Provide soft fluffy pillows, robes and towels.
Use neutral colors when painting your walls to produce a more laid back atmosphere, stick to medium to darker paint color and avoid yellow, orange or stark white paint. Decorate your walls with canvas wall art. Provide lamps for both aesthetic and functional reasons. Have some reading material for customers to browse through while waiting.
Another element that affects the ambiance is lighting. Same as the walls, avoid white light, but do provide that option. Your staff will need bright white light when cleaning the salon. Use light with a soft glow from your waiting area to your massage rooms so customers can start to relax while waiting for their turn. Don’t make the light too dim in your waiting lounge so that your customers can read a magazine while waiting.
Get a shop space with enclosed partitions for privacy issues. If you have a glass window up front, put light curtains to allow a bit of sunlight in. If the view outside is unpleasant like a parking lot or the street, you can use darker shades or blinds. If you decide to play music, make sure that the volume is very low and play only soft soothing music.
Spread out aromatherapy candles all over your day spa business. These look good and smell good. They are called aromatherapy because the scent induces certain qualities. Choose candles that smell like lavender to relax the mind and body. Clutter can also be unsightly and can actually make customers uncomfortable, so build cabinets where you can keep stocks of supplies.
Use natural materials inside your day spa business. Wood is better than plastic or metal. Synthetic materials tend to remove the rustic and home ambiance. Train employees to respect the silence that customers want. Instruct them not to chit chat while there are clients at the spa. Get more advice from veteran day spa owners who can give you more tips to make your salon more attractive to customers.

Bathrooms used to be primarily a functional space, with very little thought to their appearance or style. But today, the bathroom is considered an important part of the home – a place to relax and also an asset in the sale of a home. If you hope to make your bathroom a relaxing “spa-like” room, you need to focus on contemporary bathroom design.
There are a lot of features to incorporate into contemporary bathroom design. If you are interested in creating a high-end bathroom, you may want to consider features such as:
* walk-in showers with multi shower heads;
* radiant heating for tile floors;
* whirlpool spa bathtubs;
* glass shower doors;
* luxurious custom cabinetry; and
* elegant tile.
The first step in planning a contemporary bathroom design is to evaluate the structure of your home. Some of these elements are very heavy, especially if you plan to use granite or marble tiles. You need to know whether your floor can handle the weight of a spa-tub (when full) or a multi-head walk in shower with a lot of tile.
What if Space is Limited?
Another factor to consider is space. How big is the bathroom? Smaller bathrooms require scaled down fixtures. For instance, contemporary bathroom design might incorporate an above counter basin. This option for a basin is great for smaller bathrooms because the basin is the focal point – you can use a smaller cabinet as the base.
Do you have a small bathroom with a bath/shower combination? One option to consider is replacing the bathtub with a large shower pan. Your former bathtub becomes a walk-in shower. Add some beautiful tile with bathroom accessories
such a tiled soap tray, or heated towel racks. You may have what’s technically considered a “smaller” bathroom, but it’s far more luxurious, functional and inviting.
Details Add Elegance
Think about your image of a spa. What comes to your mind? Do you think of sleek, simple spaces with natural elements like tile or bamboo? Incorporate those ideas into your contemporary bathroom design. Don’t forget to add bathroom accessories to enhance the image. For instance, luxurious stacks of fluffy towels, hand-crafted soaps, baskets filled with magazines, a glass bottle with scented oil and bamboo sticks to dissipate the scent, and baskets to hide spare rolls of toilet paper.
Contemporary bathroom design incorporates luxury, functionality and an eye for details with well-chosen bathroom accessories. With a little planning and design, you can create a beautiful bathroom that will feel like your own private spa.

This is a case study of a spa design for a 3 in 1 spa salon. The owner wanted a design theme that invokes a peace, quiet, and serene ambiance.
We have a customer who approaches us for her 3 in 1 spa salon design. It provides one-stop service for hair, nail and as well as full body spa treatments. She wanted to give her customers to feel for the peace, quiet, and serene ambiance the moment they stepped into the spa.
Her previous spa design failed to invoke such ambiance. She felt that her spa customers were not able to experience the peace, quiet, and serene ambiance especially during the previous design, the designer did not take the soundproofing into consideration.
Usually, when the hair dryer or blower is used, the noise level produced by it was heard clearly from the full body treatments spa area, which was just next to it. In addition, nail spa area was not included in the previous spa design.
Therefore, we have to come up with a design for the nail spa area; hence, the owner had engaged us for her 3 in 1 spa salon design consultancy. According to her, she knew that we are specialized and able to produced good spa design that display uniqueness and character.
In addition, she had also requested us to provide her with a one-stop services that include renovation.
We appreciate our customers for placing their trust on us and at the same time, we were most obliged to provide her with our one-stop services.

If you want to open up a spa, the spa design will be an important factor in your success. Ambiance is, of course, an important thing to consider. However, you will also want to be mindful of the flow of traffic within the spa as well.
One thing you have to consider is which spa facilities will be together for both men and women and which will be separate. Some spas have all separated. Others have a jacuzzi that can be used by both while steam and saunas are separated. While this is nice for couples, it will be a lot easier on your staff if you keep them separated.
You need to think about where your treatment rooms are going to be in relation to your spa facilities. You do not want your clients to have to travel too far. But it is best to have them exit the spa area for the treatment rooms as it is then easier to have them used for guests of either gender.
It is nice to have a lounge in your spa design where both genders can relax together before their treatments. This is a good place to provide herbal teas and water. It is also a convenient place to have guests wait for their therapists at appointment time.
A simple flow can make the experience of everyone much more pleasant. Have a front desk where people can check in and get a key to their locker in the spa area. If it is their first time at your place, walk them back and get them acquainted. As you do so, indicate the lounge area where they should wait if they are getting a treatment.
Either have slippers and a robe waiting in the locker or have spa attendants hand them to the guest. When they change, they will be leaving the outside world in the locker along with their clothes. Always encourage guests to come to the spa thirty minutes before their appointments to enjoy the amenities. Also remember to suggest they move to the lounge at least five minutes before their appointment.
Music can be simultaneously piped into all the different areas of the spa design. This may be preferable to individual CD players in each treatment room. Your therapists will then not have to deal with problem CDs or having to change music. You will also better be able to control the time of ambiance you want to set.
Aromatherapy is a big question, and one that is best to be cautious about. Offering aromatherapy treatments as an extra is a great idea. But, with so many people having allergies these days, it is wise to stay away from using incense in common areas as well as treatment rooms. Many spas offer water with fruit and/or cucumbers in it. Again, it is best to have this water where the guest can readily see what is in it and choose for themselves. Always provide the option of plain drinking water.
You will also have specific local regulations that need to be followed when opening a facility. Following these tips in addition when creating your spa design will help you to open a successful spa.

One industry that has been gaining in popularity recently is the medical spa industry. This is especially true when it comes to our aging population since they tend to suffer from skin, muscle and joint, and mental issues as they get older.
Nevertheless, it seems as though many of those who are over the age of fifty are able to greatly reduce their feeling of aging by visiting a medical spa, where they can get some homeopathic treatment that they need to feel better.
As with any type of spa, a medical spa should help the feeling of relaxation so that they body can feel better. A medical spa design should include some relaxing elements as well as follow some additional requirements to ensure it’s success.
The first thing that any medical spa setup needs to take into consideration is the amount of money that it will cost to create the environment and open the doors for business.
Be sure to keep in mind that it will take time to build up a reasonable client base, and until you have a lot of clients you are unlikely to bring in much profit. You will need to have enough operating capital to cover your expenses. An interior designer experienced in this type of business might be just the thing that is needed to ensure the proper spa design is achieved to bring in clients and keep them coming back.
Interior designers are especially trained in bringing together just the right design elements needed to attract a certain target market, in this case the elderly. Some nostalgic design elements might work well in the case of a medical spa design.
As with any spa design, the correct colors need to be incorporated into the design trend so that there is a feeling of relaxation. Some colors tend to give off excess energy and cause stress and fatigue, so these must be avoided at all cost.
Blue is usually considered to be one of the most relaxing colors, so it is suitable for use in a medical spa design. Other than color choice, you also want to take into account the need for comfort, which means selecting furniture that is ergonomically correct so people will be able to relax easily.
In order to ensure success, the appropriate mix of treatments is also important, along with the spa design elements of furnishings and accessories.

I personally love to design for spa. I just enjoy that tranquil, relaxing ambiance, and the professional services provided by them.
Whenever I travel, first thing when I checked into the hotel is to book for a spa treatment session. Moreover, by visiting different types of spa, it helps to broaden my design knowledge about it.
After experiencing many of the unique spas, I would like to share some of my views with you.
The first thing that attracts me to the spa will be spa design of the main entrance. Like the tropical spa theme, it utilizes lot of plants to create a soothing and tranquil ambiance along with the relaxing music. Even you have not stepped into the spa; such ambiance would have attracted many people.
When you stepped into the spa, naturally, you will first see the main reception area and the spa settings. Therefore, the design of main area is one of the most important parts of the spa design elements.
For example, for the tropical spa theme, majority of the furniture used consists of natural timber or darker color or bamboo wood. This creates a natural feeling.
When the friendly receptionist serves you the cup of ginger tea, you would have felt much more relaxed. That sets up for the tropical spa design theme.
That is why I strongly believe that good spa designs are very important for your business. In addition, a good interior designer should always be able to create that tranquil and relaxing ambiance.

We always felt that Innovation Workshop are very lucky. Usually, customers we met are so good and nice. So far, we had never placed any magazine or newspaper advertisement. Our customers are from words of mouth.
Normally, after completing the commercial project for the customers, they became our long-term customers and they always recommend their relatives and friends. Many of them had also become our friends.
One of our customers, who engaged our design and management services for his first spa salon since 8 years ago. Today, we are still his appointed spa designer whenever he open a new outlet. Many of his customers who went to the spa salon liked the spa design even got us to renovate their residential. Some even engaged us for their office design.
There was one customer who called us. Out of curiosity, we asked what makes them chosen Innovation Workshop. They said that many of his customers who walked into their office felt very comfortable and the office design gave them the impression that the company is reliable and professional.
The office owner laughed and said it is because of our design that he is able to raise the company value. Customers flow is consistent and that was why he was able to move to a bigger office!
We were very happy to receive such compliments. Our company’s mission is to use our design ideas to help more customers to create more wealth and happiness. Yes, we make it again!
Even though we had earned much of our customer’s trust, we were never been complacent and ego. In fact, we often ask ourselves why our customers are willing to award us their commercial projects.
If I am unsure, I might even ask our customer. They always tell us that our designs are very attractive, unique, and able to attract their customer’s attention. Furniture were very well designed, it was also very durable. After using it for 5 years, it is still so tough. Another important point was that we completed the commercial project fast and handover to them on time.
There was another customer complimented us and handed over a 3000 square feet spa salon to us. We took just 15 days to complete and that is really a miracle! They were able to open the shop on time and that saves them a lot of money. They said,” You are really trustworthy!” We felt so flattened. We are so fortunate to meet such a good customer.
It is because the continuous support from our valued customers supporting Innovation Workshop’s interior design ideas, we are very strict when we recruit new designers. During the interviews, the designers will have to pass my three criteria. Firstly, how much passion they have in commercial interior design. If I cannot feel it, they will not be selected. Secondly, their design ideas must be able to touch the heart our team and liked by us. Thirdly, they must have good working attitude and able to accept others opinions.
Only when they pass though the three criteria, they can be an Innovation Workshop’s interior designer. Maybe some people might felt that I am too strict, and we might take time to recruit one designer. Nevertheless, I think it is worth it. Very often, I felt that being able to recruit good designers are not for our company, it should be for our value customers.
We will have daily meetings with our core design team in the morning. Every designer is handling different commercial projects. Each of them will have to present their work to the rest of the design team. This is simply great!
Being able to see each of their designs, I must say that every of them are unique and they attracts the whole team. At times when the designers are running out of ideas, they will go through a brainstorming session with the rest and they will eventually able to come up with the design ideas. I am very proud to have this design team and I appreciate every one of them.
It is because of their creativity, our company is able to use their designs to help more people to create wealth and happiness! Once again, I would like to thanks all my supportive customers!

Today, the world is so stressed out, competitions are everywhere. Many people find themselves working much harder and longer hours than before. Worst, the current economy situation had jeopardized many people’s job. While many trades have suffered from big decline in their business, spa seems to be standout. In fact, some spa operators even achieve decent sales at times like this.
Therefore, the services provided by a spa and salon are always in demand, regardless of the times. It is important that anyone looking to start a new spa related business realize how important the spa design is. Their customers should feel warm, welcome, and comfortable the moment they walk in, which is what the design must focus.
Many things need to be considered, before an owner is able to decide on the overall spa design they would like to incorporate into their business. There are plenty of information available out there, so research should be done, questions should be asked and answered, and creative ideas and tips examined before designing actually starts.
For an instance, a new salon owner must take into consideration the various pieces of spa equipment that will be needed to provide the entire spa services, as well as how optimum to utilize the space that is available in the overall spa design, before proceeding with the overall design process.
Speaking of the equipment, lets list a few of the necessary items that a spa will need, in order to properly pamper their clients: shampoo and styling stations, manicure and pedicure stations, steam rooms, massage tables, and of course, comfortable furniture all around.
Now, while all of these things are required to take care of the clients, the interior design of a spa and salon can not be ignored at all, because people that are going to a spa salon, want to feel warm and relaxed, and completely at ease.
Simply put, clients are going to a spa to relax and be pampered because, they need a place to get away from their hectic lives. Therefore, it is very important to have an interior design that includes decor and furniture that promotes a healthy, relaxing, and comfortable environment.
There are a number of spa design elements, such as adding soothing colors, like calming blues and greens, with other earth tones, along with relaxing water fountains, and even muted lighting that all combine to create the perfect, stress-free environment that will help anyone feel completely relaxed and comfortable when they want it.
Upon selecting the spa design elements and creating a relaxing ambiance for clients to enter, a salon and spa owner will feel as though they have certainly done their job well.
Enough can not be said for adding all of the right overall spa and interior design elements together successfully, because if the right ambiance and environment is created in the spa, the patrons will continue going there, and that kind of repeat business is what creates a thriving business.

This is a case of a spa salon owner, who was at loss when her current business was not progressing. She then approached us for her spa design advices.
Recently, a spa salon operator approached us for design consultancy. Her spa Beauty House & Spa was a small premise. In the past, the owner just began her spa salon business; never thought of having the spa salon designed.
However, as time goes by, she began to felt that the current spa design was not bringing her business nowhere. She was loss.
Then, we advised her to work on the spa design. So, when we reached at Beauty House & Spa, because of the owner’s limited renovation budget, how can we under such dilemma situation; give the spa salon a new makeover?
The owner wish to have a romantic and relaxing feel design theme. After several days of brainstorming, our designers had presented a brand new concept for the spa.
Our designers had used the wallpaper to create relax and soothing ambiance, dark timber colour along with white colored furniture further create the resort feeling. Thus, reducing the feel of being very congested in a small premise like this.
Our designer further makes use of the white curtain to create the romantic ambiance. Matching up with yellow dimmed light and soothing music, that relaxing holiday resort and romantic feel that customers love. The owner was very satisfied and of course, we were very happy to give Beauty House & Spa a total makeover.
Another happy client!
